News circulating on some sites on the international information network were monitored that customs imposed 10% fees on gold imports for Egyptians returning from abroad, in a way that is totally contrary to reality.
▪︎▪︎ In this regard, we show that Prime Minister Decree No. 1801 of 2023 was issued regarding the exemption of imports of gold 'semi -occupied forms, prepared for monetary circulation', ornaments and jewelry and parts of other precious minerals, even if they are covered or dressed with a crust of precious minerals received for customs ports accompanied by passengers coming from outside the country from the customs tax and other fees, except for the value -added tax for a period of six months that was ended at the date of 10/11/2024, and it was renewed by the Prime Minister's Decree No. 4282 of 2023, which ended on 10/5/2024, as an exception to the general original, and that from the date of 11/5/2024, the Presidential Decree No. 218 of 2022 issued the customs tariff was returned to work.
The Customs Authority confirms that no new customs taxes have been imposed on gold imports for those coming from abroad for the aforementioned types and calls on citizens to draw information from their official and specialized sources and not to coordinate behind this.
