Statement issued by the Ministry of Finance:
Minister of Finance:
Facilitating the completion of customs procedures for pilgrims and special priority for the elderly and sick cases
Automated customs systems and X-ray scanning devices contribute to improving customs performance
Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, directed to facilitate the completion of customs procedures for pilgrims and grant special priority to the elderly and sick cases, and to benefit from automated customs systems and X-ray scanning devices that contribute to improving customs performance.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the customs ports workers who work day and night to achieve customs targets by continuing to optimally employ modern technology in speed and accuracy of achievement, in order to establish the foundations of a more advanced and governed digital work environment based on linking ports to the unified electronic platform "Nafza", the newly established logistics centers, and implementing the "ACI" system in a way that helps localize distinguished global expertise, reduce customs clearance time, reduce the cost of the import and export process, and monitor Egyptian imports and exports instantly, and thus contribute to protecting local markets from poor and non-conforming goods, aiming for ports to be gateways for transit only and not storage places.

El-Shahat Ghatouri, Commissionier of the Customs Authority, pointed out the increase in the number of customs officers, in line with the efforts to intensify work in the arrival halls at ports all the day, in conjunction with the return flights of pilgrims, noting the keenness of the directors of customs ports to be continuously present at airports and sea passenger stations to quickly release luggage, based on their belief in the importance of their role in preserving the security of the homeland and citizens, and protecting local industry; as it is the locomotive of economic development.

He explained that we are keen to take all the facilitating, stimulating and attractive measures for local and foreign investments; in a way that helps in maximizing local production, enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets, facilitating the movement of trade, and improving Egypt's ranking in three important international indicators: "global competitiveness, doing business, and the macro-economic environment."
