Accelerating the pace of customs release of strategic goods and production requirements to turn the wheel of production

56.7 billion dollars, the total value of goods released from January to mid -October
Dr. Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance, stressed that we are keen to accelerate the pace of customs release from strategic goods and medicines, petroleum and fuel materials, and production requirements for priority sectors; which contributes to facilitating the trade movement, rotating the wheel of production, supporting the national industry, securing the strategic stock of the state, and increasing the volume of supply of basic commodities in the local markets.

The minister added that the period from January 2023 until mid-October witnessed the customs release of many goods with a total value of $ 56.7 billion, including strategic goods worth $ 15.1 billion and production supplies and services worth $ 26.2 billion, reflecting efforts to reduce the release time, reduce the costs of the import and export process, and stimulate investment, in light of the current global economic challenges.

The minister said that permanent committees and technical support teams have been formed to facilitate customs procedures at various ports and posts, explaining the government's keenness to make Egypt a regional center for transit trade and promote the national path to stimulate exports, as the recent amendments to some provisions of the executive regulations of the Customs Law came to maximize governance and simplify customs procedures.

Mr. El-Shahat Ghatouri, Commissionier of the Customs Authority, explained that the measures that have been taken to connect all ports electronically through the unified platform “Nafeza”, establish logistical centers for customs services, implement the “ACI” system, and localize advanced technology in work systems; which helped reducing the average customs clearance time and facilitated the customs system for those dealing with the customs system in a way that contributes to transforming Egypt into a global trade center.
