Customs Media Observatory:

The import ban circular is completely false and not true at all.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry confirmed that no new decisions were issued to ban imports.

A new attempt to stir up confusion and frustration among citizens by spreading rumors.

The Customs Media Observatory confirmed that it has monitored a new attempt by some pages on social media to stir up confusion among citizens, as part of the campaign of doubt run by parties hostile to the country; with the aim of spreading a state of frustration among public opinion by promoting a rumor about the issuance of a circular of instructions by the commissionier of the Customs Authority to ban the import of 23 items for a period of 3 months from July 5, 2023, which contradicts reality in its entirety and detail, as this circular is completely false and completely incorrect.

The Observatory explained that issuing import ban decisions is not within the jurisdiction of the Customs Authority, but rather within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which confirmed that no new import ban decisions have been issued, noting that what indicates the unreasonableness of this rumor is that its owners falsely attributed it to the Official Gazette, which does not publish any instructions

The Observatory called on citizens to obtain information from its official and specialized sources, and not to be led by these rumors that aim to stir up confusion, and not to circulate them on social media sites so as not to help spread them.
