El -Shahat Ghatuari, commissioner of the Customs Authority, stressed that we are continuing to develop the customs system according to the latest global practices, noting that artificial intelligence is an effective and developed tool in analyzing and processing data that shortens the time and reduces the effort, and provides accurate and rapid results of customs data; In a way that contributes to identifying the risk areas of each element of the import process, ensuring the reduction of money laundering operations, attempts to smuggle goods, whether by land, sea or air, knowledge of smuggling sources and determining the quality of risks.

He added, in the meeting of the Policy Committee of the World Customs Organization in Italy, that a technological application is being established in smartphones for the electronic statement of incoming and outcoming passengers through airports, pointing out that the application provides advanced information about passengers, and allows them to provide customs declaration and approve their electronic currency.
He said, that the Customs Authority strives to cooperate in cooperation with customs departments organizations around the world, using internationally standardized passenger information, with the aim of facilitating customs monitoring of passengers, facilitating travel movement and release of cargo with them, evaluating risk, improving passenger targeting operations, and tightening customs control on the border ; In a manner that is consistent with the "Kyoto Agreement of the World Customs Organization", and the new customs law, which allows the exchange of information and data secured electronically between the Customs Authority and the state’s agencies or the foreign authorities with which agreements are approved.

He pointed out that the Customs Authority supports the 2024 environmental scan, which adopts the "Pestle" methodology by analyzing the external factors for six issues: "political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental", which affects the customs work environment at the local and international levels .
He explained that the Customs Authority cooperates with all the concerned parties with the international trade movement, inside and outside Egypt, using the tools of the World Customs Organization; in order to facilitate the movement of legitimate trade, and to impose supervision of illegal trade through the "Nafeza" system, praising the role that the World Customs Organization plays in supporting its members for continuous adaptation in light of the crises and conflicts that the world is witnessing at the present time.
