Dr. Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance, stressed that we are keen to sustain communication with international partners by strengthening partnerships with many customs departments in various countries; to exchange experiences and apply best practices in order to upgrade the level of customs performance, explaining that the government has developed customs legislation during the last period in agreement with the business community and investors, in a way that contributes to simplifying, mechanizing and facilitating customs procedures, and then facilitating the movement of internal and external trade and stimulating the investment climate, and glorifying productive capabilities, expanding the export base.

On the occasion of the celebration of the International Customs Day in Alexandria, the minister said that we are seeking together to achieve the theme of the World Customs Organization for this year, which is "the engagement of customs with the current and new partners", with the aim of improving the quality of services, especially in light of the contraction the world faces of the international trade movement As a result of successive global economic crises.
In the celebration of the International Customs Day in Alexandria, El -Shahat Gutouri, head of the Customs Authority, said that we are keen to organize this celebration to educate workers and partners on the International Customs Day and the organization's theme that embodies this year, one of the most important topics that the organization would like to highlight in order to facilitate the international trade movement and eliminate harmful practices.

He added that we have succeeded during the last period in achieving many local and international partnerships to overcome the challenges we faced in draft laws and procedures regulating customs work, as well as consultations with Italian customs within the framework of the institutional twinning project that aims to coordinate the gradual legislation, rules and customs practices with the standards of the Federation European.
He explained that information technology was employed in developing the customs system work environment, and the establishment of advanced logistics centers to provide customs services through one "Nafza", while developing customs transactions, integrating, facilitating and governance of its procedures through the use of developed customs applications and conducting network linking to integrate databases with the relevant bodies in the country to reduce the release time, and simplify customs procedures, stressing that partnerships are held with international institutions, including the World Bank to help analyzing the release time for import and export operations and know the challenges to overcome them.

He expressed his appreciation to the Minister, for his continuous support for the development of the customs system, and his appreciation for his diligent colleagues, and the importance of their role in upgrading customs performance, thanking the previous authority's commissioners, for their efforts to achieve customs targets.
Ian Sanders, Secretary -General of the World Customs Organization, said that we are looking forward to building new partnerships with the stakeholders from the World Customs Society, including financial institutions, environmental organizations, NGOs and academic institutions; to expand our horizons and think creatively and adopt innovative methods that contribute to enhancing our efforts with new views and effective solutions that are consistent with our new slogan "engaging customs with the current and new partners"; In a way, the organization's keenness to complete international cooperation to facilitate trade, secure borders and maintain the flexibility of global supply chains.

Dr. Amal Al-Jabri, General Director of the General Department of Customs Development and Reform Initiatives, reviewed the electronic system that was developed to follow up the implementation of the programs and activities of the new strategic plan 2023-2026, explaining that the new system enhances strategy management through effective and balanced performance while enhancing governance and decision-making support, and extrapolating indicators of achievement through real-time follow-up of the executive stages.
