Meeting of the Directors General of Customs in Arabic Countries No. 44 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arabic States.

With the participation of Mr. El-Shahat Ghatwari, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Head of the Customs Authority, the General Secretariat organized the 44th meeting of the directors general of customs in the Arabic countries on February 28, 2024, with the participation of heads and directors general of customs authorities in the Arabic countries.

This meeting discussed a number of topics, including following up the implementation of decisions regarding customs issues issued by the Economic and Social Council, and the meeting will also discuss reports and recommendations of the Customs and Information Procedures Committee, and consider several issues presented, including (approval of the Provisions / Decisions Guide, the recommendation issued by the technical Committee for the rules of Arab origin regarding the proposal of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the item of the significance of origin within the requirements of proving origin to Arab goods within the framework of the Great Arab Free Trade Zone, and decides to keep it or delete the general provisions of the rules of Arab origin, and finally the adoption of regulations and data to be exchanged electronically through the information center Arab customs), the meeting also touches on the technical committee for Arab customs cooperation, where the Arab Customs Cooperation Agreement has entered into force since August 2022 and has a positive impact on the increase and flow of Arab trade exchange, the reconciliation committee between the translations of the coordinated system, and the transmission regulation agreement with "transit" between Modified Arab countries and other customs topics.
